CERTIFICATION AND QUALITY TRANSLATION

Today, with procedures, their drivers and indicators, the QMS has become a veritable company management tool for all participants. The most efficient systems that I have audited for certification bodies are those in the automotive and aeronautic industries.

The automotive industry for its obsession with zero defects as a preventive measure and the aeronautics industry because all the clients who have created the reference system are also audited, unlike the automotive industry. No matter which kind of manual requires translation one always finds the same incoherences.

Ask Google or a translation agency to translate expressions like “contrôler la conduite de sa voiture”, “contrôler le niveau d’huile”, “contrôler l’usure des pneus”, “contrôle des processus”, “plan de surveillance”, results can vary from “control the car’s speed”, “check the oil level”, “ check tyre wear”, “procedure controls”, “surveillance plan”. You'd be surprised at the results!

My job as proofreader includes checking the right use of the English words such as “control”, “inspection”, “check”, “test” and to tell you if in your manual or processes I would put minor or major non-conformities as a third party auditor of a CB. This is also part of the continuous improvement process.
